You need to ensure that your plan allowance (one exam and two 30 minute hygiene visits) are taken within the 12 months from starting the plan. Allowances are unable to be rolled over into the following plan year.
If you happen to go over your two hygiene appointments included within the Widcombe Dental Plan allowance, your subsequent hygiene appointment will receive a 5% discount included within the plan. This would still be chargeable until renewal the following year.
The plan runs for a total of 12 months, meaning you can cancel your plan after the full 12 months has finished, but plans cannot be cancelled part way through the agreed period.
At Widcombe Dental running on time is a high priority, if you are a few minutes late for your appointment we will always endeavour to see you if we can, however this depends upon the treatment, and the treatment duration. Ultimately, it will be down to the discretion of the treating dentist.
If you are significantly late, we may not be able to see you as we may not have the time to complete the treatment in full.
We really appreciate communication with all of our patients, so if you’re running late please do contact us and we can see if timings can be adjusted for you.
At Widcombe Dental, we use the Airflow protocol for our dental hygiene appointments and this takes time to complete. If you are up to nine minutes late, the hygienist will endeavour to complete the full protocol if they can.
However if you arrive between 10-14 minutes late, the hygienist will offer you a shorter version of the protocol, and in cases where you are 15 minutes or more late, then unfortunately you will need to reschedule. Please see a summary of what is included below:
Full 30 minutes dental hygiene appointment – what’s included:
- Comprehensive removal of biofilm (bacteria that can cause gum disease).
- Stain removal from all surfaces of the teeth.
- Removal of hard deposits “calculus” from all sides of the teeth.
- Assessment of gum disease and records taken of gum disease stage and status, if appropriate.
- Oral hygiene instruction – how to remove harmful, disease-causing bacteria to ensure stability of gum health by showing you areas you may be missing, correct brushing techniques, appropriate interdental aids.
20 minutes or less – what’s included:
- Removal of calculus to aid “at home cleaning”.
- Stain removal from surfaces only visible when smiling*.
*This will only be performed if time permits.
Practice policy states that we will only allow two late occurrences, two after this, you will be asked to rebook as our hygienists will be unable to fulfil their legal requirements to assess and treat your gums, guided by the GDC and CQC.
